One Prop

Sometimes Improv Isn't Enough

Improvisation is a vital component of any after school block, but sometimes students need a prop.  There's nothing like a little tactile contact to get their creative juices flowing.  Here's an activity that requires a few objects to get going.

1. Have a selection of scarves, clothes, or other objects.

2. Each player receives a scarf/cloth, or other object.

3. Each player invents a character that uses the scarf (or other object) as a prop. For example: an old woman's bonnet; a fast-food workers cleaning cloth; a movie star's scarf; a tennis player's towel; a mechanic's dirty rag.

4. Give each student an opportunity to do a short improvisation using the object.
