Letters Lead to Amusing Words

Everybody has a favorite letter of the alphabet.  A great way to make that letter work for you is to think of all the different words that begin with it. Here's a way of turning this list into a fun classroom activity.

1. Arrange the students in a circle.

2. Choose a letter at random.

3. Give students 10 seconds to think of a few words that start with that letter.

4. Choose someone to start.

5. Continue around the circle until a player cannot come up with a new word after five seconds.

6. Record each word and count the total.

7. Keep a record of words and scores for each letter.

8. Compare the scores between letters.
