Actions Speak For Words
Vocabulary Finds New Voice Through Pantomime
Some words are more slippery then others, and require a stronger glue then what can be found in a story alone. Pantomime gives performers the chance to explore their word collections and breathe life into words using their bodies and their imaginations!
1. Write a list of words from the book or chapter on index cards.
2. Write the same list on a chart.
3. Invite students to perform a short pantomime of one of the words.
4. Ask students to guess what word was being performed by having a student read each word on the list. Have students raise their hands to show which word was being performed.
