Cabrini Green Students Embrace LitART Reading Program

The LitART Curriculum has been successful in helping 2nd and 3rd grade students to discover the joys of reading.

As recently reported in The Beacon, a publication of Holy Family Ministries in Chicago, the LitART Curriculum has been successful in helping 2nd and 3rd grade students to discover the joys of reading. In an after school program conducted in one of the few remaining buildings referred to as Cabrini Green (the focus of the Alex Kotlowitz's book, There Are No Children Here) students explore word games, award winning picture books, and reading skills for 30 minutes day.

Channing Jones, the program facilitator reports, "We focus on keeping the kids engaged and excited about books. We start with the Opening Magic activity, use the Daily Tone and then read that day's picture book together.  It has been very fun and very succesful."
