LitART's Winning Streak Continues
Fayette County Creates A Literacy Partnership First!
LitART continues its winning streak by establishing its first partnership in Alabama. Fayette County has been awarded $400,000 in the 2008-2009 Alabama Community Learning Center Competition to serve students in the towns of Berry, Hubbertville, and Fayette. The grants were written in partnership with LitART, and each center will use the LitART literacy curriculum at their site. The grants promise to bring in over $1.5 million for students in need.
Each community learning center provides students with academic support, educational enrichment, extracurricular workshops and programs, and recreational activities designed to meet state standards for health and nutrition.
Students in Berry will take part in YACHT (Youth Achievers building Character, Habits, and Talents), Hubbertville students will benefit from LEAD (the Learning, Enriching, and Accomplishing Dreams club), and Fayette students will take part in PEAK (Preparing Everyone for Action through Knowledge).
Paul Ahrens, president of Global Learning, Inc., says, "This win establishes LitART's presence in Alabama."
